... and just a couple of roads away, the house where my Grandad spent much of his childhood before leaving for the Navy

This picture at the bottom is the view Grandad Ted would have had from his front gate leaving to go off to join the Navy at the age of just 15 years I believe. Aside from the cars (and the sight of Nic on the path strolling towards him) it would have looked almost identical. A lifetime ago, before the Second World War, it really affected me to be there.
